Andrew McLeod Fraser

Andrew McLeod Fraser Was born November 11, 1952 in Midland Texas, the first child of George Corning Fraser III and Ann Welling Fraser. On June 6, 1983, he married Anke Roswitha Brandstater in Mulheim ADR in Germany. Andrew and Anke divorced in 1999. On May 30 2010, Andrew married Marguerite Rose McClay.

1. Isaac William Fraser, b. June 6, 1985, Austin, Texas; d. July 6, 1985, Austin, Texas.
2. Andrew McLeod Fraser Jr., b. May 8, 1986, Austin, TX.
3. Adrian Everett Fraser, b. November 27, 1991, Portland, OR.

He attended Bonham Elementary and St. John's School, both in Ablilene, TX. For the 9th grade in 1967, he left for St. Stephens School in Austin where he graduated in 1971. Between 1971 and 1977, he attended both Princeton and the University of Texas and worked as an technician in the electronics industry.

Andrew graduated with a Bachelors degree in physics from Princeton in 1977, and took a design engineering position in the Bipolar Memory Division of Fairchild Semiconductor in Mountain View, CA till 1981. Fairchild was exciting because it had the fastest memory and general integrated circuit technology at the time.

Andrew was at the University of Texas from 1981 to 1989. He earned a Ph.D. in Physics in 1988, and his dissertation work [1] is widely cited.

Andrew moved to Los Alamos New Mexico in 2005 to take a position at the National Laboratory after having spent the years 1989 to 2005 on the faculty of Portland State University [2] in the both the department of Electrical Engineering and the Systems Science Program. In 1988, SIAM published his first book, Hidden Markov Models and Dynamical Systems [3].
